Miami Social Media is a loosely formed and informal collective of leading social media professionals in South Florida collaborating on various projects, events and associations. The group includes people from a diverse range of industries and specialties working together to engage South Florida’s entrepreneurial community.
smdaymia de Carvalho – smdaymia is the Regional Development Director, South Florida, for Constant Contact. He creates spaces for individuals, companies, and brands to connect. Based in Miami, smdaymia has helped unite South Florida’s tech community by organizing The Startup Forum, Social Media Club, BarCamp, Ignite Miami, Social Media Day, and Mobile Monday meetups and conferences for South Florida new media professionals, and is a founding member of RefreshMiami. Over the past six years, these organizations have hosted events for over 10,000 professionals, leading to new business connections, employment opportunities, and startup ideas. smdaymia recently co-authored “Securing The Clicks: Network Security in the Age of Social Media” with MacGraw-Hill. Estrella S. Sibila, Esq.– Estrellita S. Sibila recognizes the importance of creating a sustainable South Florida community. She is a land use and zoning attorney with the law firm of Estrellita Sibila, PA and serves as the Executive Director of PhilanthroFest. Estrellita is a recognized community leader, speaker, author, fundraiser and issue advocate who has served in leadership capacities with South Florida organizations such as United Way of Miami Dade, Chapman Partnership, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Lawyers Credit Union, University Credit Union, and the Miami Green Commission. A proud graduate and outstanding alumna of the University of Miami (BS ’01, JD ’04, L.L.M.P. 05’), Estrellita strives to build a better South Florida by creating opportunities for civic engagement, philanthropy and community investment. Estrellita is a Class VI graduate of the exclusive Miami Fellows Initiative of the Miami Foundation, a Class XXX graduate of Leadership Miami and the recipient of numerous awards for her contributions in the fields of real estate law and sustainable land development. She was the inaugural winner of the Greater Miami Chamber HYPE Go-Getter Award, and has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyer Magazine, an “Up and Coming Attorney” by Florida Trend Magazine, named Florida’s “Top 30 Under 30 in Commercial Real Estate” and “Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars of Florida Real Estate” by Real Estate Florida Magazine. Ms. Sibila was profiled in Miami Today as “The Achiever” for her advocacy work in sustainable development and was featured on “Comcast Newsmakers” where she discussed the implementation of sustainable development strategies in existing buildings. Janie Sederberg Coffey – Janie is the Director of Sales and Brand Experience at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty. Janie has embraced new technology and speaks and writes frequently on the use of new media in real estate and for small businesses. She is a co-organizer of Ignite Miami. Janie tweets @janiec
Maria De Los Angeles – Maria de los Angeles is an award-winning writer, publisher of one of Miami’s oldest blogs, Sex and the Beach, which covers everything from travel, fishing, social media, booze, food, historical pirates and more. She is a freelancer based in South Florida who is also very involved in the local social media and blogging scene. Maria formerly wrote a social media column for Miami New Times, which she revived on her own blog as Silicone Bitch. In addition to writing, Maria also organizes SxSe and HeartCamp and teaches customized blogging workshops. A former forum moderator for Miami Beach 411, Maria currently helps run social media for a Caribbean resort. Maria is also a regular speaker and panel moderator at many South Florida conferences on the subject of social media and blogging. Three years ago, Maria was one of 100 Ford Fiesta Agents for the motor company’s national social media campaign. Recently, she won a grant from Comcast to produce short films about Hialeah and to produce a blog documentary series on Florida’s Hispanic heritage during a social media-driven road trip. Brenda Leguisamo - Brenda is a passionate international social entrepreneur, social media for business women event marketing speaker, author and board member. She is creator of social media event marketing systems serving as Founder and President of Social Biz Members. Serves as speaker of email and social media marketing for small business in partnership with Constant Contact.
With over 20 years extensive and diverse sophisticated experience producing seven figure revenue business solutions for Fortune 50 companies to local and international small to medium sized enterprises. Since year 2006, Brenda developed and participated in international social media strategy, training, management and speaking engagements. From years 2011 to 2013, developed social media strategy where business women event tweets reached Twitter top trending topic Miami for five consecutive summits.

Liza Gallardo Walton - Liza is the Principal at Miami Social Marketing (MSM). MSM is a Social Media and Marketing company focused on helping organizations create authentic connections through relevant content and dialogue to engage a targeted audience through social media. Ms. Walton began her career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in the Change Management competency, where she built online training tools and taught end users how to effectively use new software systems. She then switched gears, and joined the Technology Practice at Burson-Marsteller, where she executed Public Relations campaigns for many Latin American “dot-coms.” Ms. Walton eventually landed at the City of Miami, where she served as a Public Information Officer. She was then promoted to NET Administrator, where she oversaw the coordination of city services and community relations at the neighborhood level. Miami Social Marketing is the synthesis of her diverse skill set. A Cuban American born in Mexico, Ms. Walton a graduate of Ransom-Everglades School. She has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts in both Public Policy and Romance Languages from Washington and Lee University. Natascha Otero Santiago – Natascha is a Hispanic Public Relations and Social Media consultant with more than 20 years of experience. She incorporates social and traditional media to build and engage communities organically for her clients. Natascha OS, as she is known in new media circles, was born and raised in Puerto Rico and studied college in Boston, MA. For the past two years, she has concentrated in helping start-up small businesses with their public relations and new media needs. A seasoned special events coordinator, Otero has created marketing plans as well as community engagements events for her clients and volunteer organizations. She is Co-Director of the Latinos in Social Media South Florida chapter (LATISM_SFL); an advisor with conPRmetidos, a non-profit Washington DC-based “think-tank;” developed the social media strategy for the 2011 Miami Tedx Youth Day event; and a founding member of the Miami-based social media group the “Miami Rat Pack.” Natascha has participated and led panels in social media and community management, most recently as part of the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics, Social Media Week, NetUpNow, and Women’s Power Caucus conferences. Grant Stern – Grant is a mortgage broker still active after 8 years and regularly funding both bank and private/hard equity loans throughout the State of Florida for commercial and residential properties. He’s a realty consultant with specialty in condominiums, and the owner of Condo Terminators, a group focused on streamlined liquidation of failed condominium communities. Blanca Stella Mejia- Blanca has been blogging for five years and is also the founder of an award winning bilingual blog MiCaminar.com, (My Walk), where she shares doses of inspiration, leadership and motivation. She gets geek and blogs about Social Media at BlancaStella.com and also a founder of Web Development agency VizRED.
She works full time as a Social Media Consultant and is currently one of the Community Managers for Microsoft Research’s creative social network project by FUSE Labs, Socl. and was named by Latina Magazine as one of the top 25 Latinas Who Shine In Technology. Her motto is “Make Authentic Connections Through Social Media Platforms”, and her passion has been doing just that. She is very involved in the local grassroots Social Media community and was one of the first speakers at Ignite Miami Currently, she is on the board of Social Media Club South Florida and a Co-Director of Latism South Florida which is a chapter of the largest non-profit Hispanic online voice.
Steve Roitstein – Steve Roitstein is a songwriter, producer, composer, arranger and musician. He has a diploma from the Interlochen Arts Academy, a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Music and Jazz and a Master’s degree in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami. Steve has worked on several Grammy-winning records, wrote a number-one song, and received many awards for his advertising music. He has worked with great recording artists including Ray Charles, Willy Chirino, Jaco Pastorius, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. He has a passion for Social Media, creating “buzz” for brands and spreading the word on the power behind this different kind of technology; which has been the driving force to launch SocialBuzzTV.com (bow tie and all) In addition Sebastian is the host of SocialBuzzONAIR. The show focuses on Social Media news, discussions and interviews with influencers within the Social Media space. It airs LIVE on Friday’s at 5pm/ET. He was previously the President of Kayne Consulting Corp, a boutique marketing consulting firm based in Miami, that serviced small to medium-sized businesses with direct marketing campaigns.
